YouTube Broken… again!?

As of recent news YouTube has taken a U-Turn with its content creators, what we have here is a fourteen-year-old girl/boy throwing a big BIG tantrum. YouTube has updated its terms of service forcing new and old content creators, like myself, to change the way they produce and edit their own content.

The update includes but not limited to:

  • Sexual suggestive content, including partial nudity and sexual humour.
  • Violence, including display of serious injury and events related to violent extremism.
  • Inappropriate language, including harassment, profanity and vulgar language.
  • Promotion of drugs.
  • Controversial or sensitive subjects and events, subjects related to are war, politics, natural disasters and tragedies.

Some YouTuber’s are having a lot of problems with this, such as DeFranco who is rather popular has had several videos de-monetised and removed, DeFranco’s channel hasn’t been taken down and shows no sign of being taken down just yet. The larger YouTube channels have been able to counter this issue with their networks supporting them but smaller channels are struggling to fight this new update either forcing them to close down their channels or ignore it completely and hope that it will change.

This could be a massive problem for YouTube not only as a website but also as a company, YouTuber’s are either thinking about changing to a new platform and start their careers there or waiting till it all blows over. But if channels chose a new platform this could cause YouTube to lose ad revenue and company backings.

Hopefully, YouTube reconsiders their terms of services.
